Z Automotive OEM Locker Sensor Bypass Harness for Jeep Wrangler & Gladiator Rubicon

Hey Rob here for Quadratec.com. Today we're checking out the Z Automotive OEM locker sensor bypass harness for the 2018 and newer Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon and the 20 and newer Jeep Gladiator JT Rubicon. Now before we dive into what this little sensor harness does let's talk for a moment about the problem that it solves. Both of your lockers, the front and the rear locker from the factory, utilize a position sensor on the locker assembly that tells your vehicle computer whether your locker is engaged or disengaged. Well those sensors have a known problem which could cause them to fail at any given moment. In fact they can fail under normal driving conditions when you're not even actively using your lockers. Now when that position sensor fails it doesn't mean that there's anything mechanically wrong with your locker but just more simply that it can't tell the computer in your Jeep whether your locker is engaged or disengaged and therefore it resorts to an error indicator on the dash along with a service axle locker message readout and it locks you out of the ability to use your lockers in whichever axle that sensor has failed. Now of course your immediate thought would be to go ahead and simply replace the bad sensor but unfortunately they're currently unavailable from the manufacturer. The next step would be well hey maybe I can just replace the entire locker assembly with a new sensor in place. Again they're currently unavailable. So what most dealerships are resorting to do is to go ahead and replace your entire axle assembly. However due to the commonality of this issue most axle assemblies are currently on a national back order, so that either means that your Jeep is left sitting at the dealership out of your hands or you're driving around your vehicle with the inability to use your lockers. Well that's where the Z Automotive OEM locker sensor bypass harness comes into play. It installs in line here between the factory wiring harness side on the body and your locker. To install it we can simply open up our locking tab. A screwdriver can be helpful to twist that connector open a little bit. Go ahead squeeze that tab and unplug your locker wiring harness and then we'll take the new Z Automotive OEM locker sensor bypass harness plugging it in place to our locker. Go ahead and push that locking tab. The other side will connect to the body side wiring. Again locking that in place. You can see it utilizes all factory style weatherproof connectors and once this is in place well this little module here is going to act as the position sensor. It's going to send the message that your Jeep's computer is looking for telling it that the locker is either engaged or disengaged based on what you've selected on the button on your dashboard and giving it the appropriate feedback. No it's not actually looking at your locker however it is going to give you the ability to continue to use your mechanically functional locker even with the bad faulty locker position sensor.
