Quadratec Aluminum Roof Rack Install & Review for Jeep Wrangler JK, JL & Gladiator JT

hey rob here for Quadratec.com today we're checking out the Quadratec aluminum roof rack available for the 07 to 18 Jeep Wrangler JK 18 and newer Jeep Wrangler JL as well as the 20 newer Jeep Gladiator JT our aluminum roof rack is the perfect way to free up some added interior space inside of your vehicle or maybe just add the extra cargo carrying capability that you need to bring along everything for your next outdoor adventure so whether simply headed to the beach for the day or maybe on an extended overland or off-road adventure our aluminum roof rack is going to give you the ability to bring along all your recovery gear and other accessories that you need to bring along with you the rack itself measures 52 inches from back to front and 54 inches from side to side and when it's installed on top of your Jeep what only adds about seven and a half inches to the overall height of your vehicle the rack is constructed from lightweight aluminum along with three extruded aluminum crossbars and then some steel mounting feet to get the rack attached to your vehicle's hard top here at the drip rails because we're using a combination of lightweight aluminum and steel mounting feet the entire rack weighs in at under 40 pounds yet it's capable of carrying up to 150 pounds of cargo or gear evenly distributed across the rack everything has been finished off in a lightly textured satin black powder coat finish you'll find a variety of different slotted mounting points along the back as well as the front of the rack so that you can attach some of different accessories or lights and you'll also find our included yet optional wind deflector to give your rack a very sleek and aerodynamic look if installed on the front now optionally you can leave the wind deflector off so that you can mount some lights on the inside leading edge of the rack or you can choose to mount that wind deflector from the inside edge to give your rack a slightly different profile as you can see the rack has been designed to be compatible with both two-door and four-door Wranglers as well as the Gladiator on the four-door Wranglers we've given you plenty of space to still be able to easily remove and install your freedom panels on the Gladiator the front mounting feet will be attaching to the drip rail of the freedom panels themselves so they will need to remain in place when you're installing this on your JT it's also worth noting that our aluminum roof rack is not compatible with JL Wranglers that feature the sky one touch power top getting your rack installed on your vehicle is a pretty easy process requires no drilling or modification to your hard top required that's because we're simply clamping it along our drip rail built into the hard top you will need to first assemble your rack start by laying out the left and right sides as well as the front and back and then bolting it together at all four corners using the provided hardware next we can go ahead and attach the three extruded aluminum crossbars by bolting them to the bottom of the rack again with the provided hardware and finally if you're going to be installing the included wind deflector now is the perfect time to go ahead and do that now next we can go ahead and prep the mounting feet by installing some padded foam tape as well as an edge protector and for the JL and the JT i find it easiest to go ahead and loosely attach the mounting feet to the bottom of the rack at the full most forward and rearward attachment points simply snug the hardware at this point only tight enough so that you can still move the mounting feet around now go ahead and grab a friend to help you lift the rack into place adjusting the mounting feet to sit into the drip rail of your hard top next we can grab the clamp side of the mounting foot and start by loosely attaching a washer and lock nut to the top stud then install two of the captive washer bolts through the side of the mounting foot tighten them down just to keep the clamp snugged up against the drip rail then we can go ahead and tighten that top nut on the stud pulling the clamp up until it's compressed against the bottom side of the drip rail and then of course don't forget to fully tighten the two bolts that secure the mounting foot to the bottom of the rack then we need to just go ahead and repeat those same steps at the other three corners of the rack to finish the installation now for the 07 to 18 Jeep Wrangler JK your install is going to be just slightly different the mounting feet at the front of the rack are attached in virtually the same manner as on the JL however at the rear of the rack instead of attaching to the drip rail we're going to be using brackets that install underneath of the lift glass hinges start by opening the lift glass and loosening the two bolts that secure the lift glass hinge to the hard top don't remove the bolts only loosen them enough to slip the mounting foot in place between the hinge and the hard top and then re-tighten the bolts then repeat those same steps on the opposite side of the Jeep now with all four mounting feet installed on the hardtop we can go ahead and lift the roof rack up into place setting it down on top of the mounting feet once you have the rack centered we can go ahead and bolt the rack to the mounting feet with the provided hardware now you can see it's just that easy to get your Quadratec aluminum roof rack assembled and installed on top of either your 07 to 18 Jeep Wrangler JK 18 and newer Jeep Wrangler JL or your 20 newer Jeep
