What is Earth Day, you may ask?

Well, in reality it should be every day. It means leaving the environment a bit better than you found it when you are outside. Plant a garden, or some trees. Pick up and correctly dispose of trash. stay on the trail. That kind of stuff.

But Earth Day itself, April 22, is a movement aimed at raising awareness of the negative impact our actions can have on the environment and our planet as a whole. Tens of millions of people across the globe will celebrate today through action, holding digital seminars and educational events, while trying to spread the message that our environmental actions have consequences.

The original Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970, when 20 million Americans—10 percent of the United States population at the time—took to the streets, college campuses and hundreds of cities to protest environmental ignorance and demand a new way forward for our planet.

The first Earth Day is credited with launching the modern environmental movement and is now recognized as the planet’s largest civic event.

At Quadratec, we try to do our part every time we step outside. Whether it is a small gesture like picking up a piece of trash we see blowing around, or making sure our tires are aired up properly for maximum fuel efficiency—all the way to our efforts with Tread Lightly, and others like Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area, to repair and reinvigorate the great trails we love, our goal is to seize the initiative and change our world for the better.
