2010 Wrangler Simplifies Soft Top Abilities & More

Jeep Wrangler rolls into its fourth year of the JK era sporting a revised and much easier to use soft top, as well as new standard features such as fog lamps, tow hooks, outdoor temperature gauge and eco drive system across the entire Wrangler line – all helping refine the vehicle while it firmly retains its rugged image and off-road ability.

For 2010 Jeep still offers three different trim levels, but has removed the base X model in favor of the Wrangler Sport while keeping the Sahara and Rubicon in place. All, once again, are available in either 2dr (95.4 inch wheelbase) or 4dr (106 inch wheelbase). All 2dr models are 4x4 only, while 4dr editions offer a choice between 4x2 and 4x4. Jeep also added two Special Edition vehicles in Islander and Mountain. Color choices include Black, Bright Silver, Dark Charcoal, Deep Water Blue, Flame Red, Mango Tango (orange), Natural Green, Red Rock Crystal, Rescue Green, Stone White and Surf Blue.

Wrangler Sport ($21,165 base MSRP) and Sahara ($26,255 base MSRP) are both fitted with standard Dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear axles, as well as with Jeep’s Command-Trac NV241 part-time, two-speed transfer case that features a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. Sport editions roll with 29” tires on 16-inch wheels, while Sahara versions have 32” tires on 18-inch rims. The top-of-the-line edition Rubicon Wrangler (base MSRP $27,775) are fitted with heavy-duty Dana 44 front and rear axles and the company’s off-road crushing Rock-Trac NV241 two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. The Rubicon Wrangler also includes electric front and rear locking differentials, disconnecting front sway bar and 32” tires on 17” rims for the ultimate in off-road capability. Maximum payload across the line is 1,000 lbs, and tow rating is 2,000 lbs (2dr) and 3,500 lbs (4dr).

In the Special Edition series, Islander ($22,285 base MSRP) is modeled after the Sport, but adds 32” tires on 17” wheels, black side steps, as well as distinctive ‘Islander’ decals on its hood. Inside it offers Islander decaled seats with bright blue inserts as well as other dash panel Islander-blue accents. Available colors include Stone White, Bright Silver and Black. For the Mountain ($27,355 base MSRP), Jeep added several new exterior accessories such as tubular steps, taillight guards, and fuel filler door. Available colors are Rescue Green, Black, and Deep Water Blue. Both Special Edition vehicles are available in 2dr or 4dr versions.

Of course, back again this year are staple Wrangler features such as round headlamps, iconic seven-slot grille, trapezoid wheel flares, removable doors, exposed hinges, and fold-down windshield that allow the Wrangler to retain the brand’s iconic appearance and function.

As well equipped as your 2010 Wrangler is from the factory, there is always room for improvement! You can check out all the available 2010 Jeep Wrangler accessories here.
