OXFORD, Pa.—Take one part Christmas tree farm. Add in a healthy dose of snow. Mix with a liberal amount of Jeeps. And then let sit for a few hours on a chilly late fall morning.
That was the recipe for November's Jeeps and Java event and the final result was a dish filled with holiday season excitement.
For Sunday's gathering, we packed up our things at our West Chester, Pennsylvania headquarters and headed down to Spruce Grove Tree Farm just outside Oxford where acres of Christmas trees welcomed everyone under a cloudy—and sometimes rainy—sky. Although the farm's Jeep obstacle course was closed down for this event, those who wanted were able to drive their vehicles around some of the farm's trails to check out different types of Christmas trees. As you can expect, the morning rain also turned the trails into a bit of a mud bath for many of the Jeeps that ventured out.
It didn't take long for the rain to morph into snow, which only added to the event's holiday theme.
Besides the farm's Christmas trees and other holiday items out for purchase, November's Jeeps and Java attendees enjoyed doughnuts, coffee, and most importantly hot chocolate, while those with children were able to visit with Santa Claus. Many also took their time walking in the muddy parking lot, and checked out the various Jeeps in attendance—which even included several Gladiators.
Additionally, some brought toys to donate to our Toys For Tots drive.
Of course, the big part of each Jeeps and Java event is the raffle, and Sunday's was no exception as there were plenty of gift cards, holiday wreaths, Jeep glasses and Grizzly Jeep logo cups. We even had one of our J-series light bars and a set each of Baja Xtreme and Rubicon Xtreme wheels as grand prizes. Plus, Spruce Grove donated a tree and a wreath for two lucky winners.
All raffle proceeds go towards our partner organizations: Michael Strange Foundation, Shriners Children's Hospitals of Philadelphia and Providence Animal Center.
Congrats to everyone who won raffle prizes at the event, and also thanks to everyone who donated.
Our December Jeeps & Java will move back to West Chester, where we will be collecting toys for donation to Toys for Tots. Of course, we will also have everything else that Jeeps and Java is known for, such as doughnuts, coffee, games, raffle prizes and plenty of Jeeps to check out. We hope to see you there.
