SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.—Every year, the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival has a goal to be one of the biggest Jeep events in the country. And this year proved no different as a record-setting amount of people descended on Coopers Lake Campgrounds in Butler County, Pennsylvania June 7-9 for the ninth annual Bantam Jeep get together.
More than 25,000 people attended the three-day event that features—among other things—many of the Jeep aftermarket's top manufacturers, trail rides, skills competition, Jeep playground and mud pit, historical exhibits, overlanding instruction, food and drink, World War 2 encampment, Best of Show awards, Jeep Barbie racing, and Jeep decorating contest.
The event also featured a Jeep parade and parking show Friday night, called the Butler Jeep Invasion, where nearly the entire city was shut down to vehicle traffic and all kinds of Jeeps parked for inspection. Over 2,500 Jeeps and 15,000-plus people came out to the invasion.
Perhaps the most popular spot was the Jeep Playground, sponsored in part by Quadratec, where drivers could choose one of three courses depending on their Jeep build. Or they could make a run through two mud pits—all in front of a crowd that sometimes grew to several hundred during the day.
Rausch Creek Off Road park, as well as Off Road Consulting, helped build and maintain the playground, along with numerous volunteers who spotted on the various courses and mud pits.
