Over 80 volunteers showed up Saturday, May 11 at Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area to help 'spruce' the place up a bit. Meaning, they pulled on gloves, grabbed trash bags and stuffed them full of all kinds of things like ancient dolls, soda bottles, basketballs, carpets, mops, car parts - it really was a list that never seemed to end. Besides all the trash, others dug into the earth and pulled out tires. Loads and loads of tires. All different shapes and sizes, some kind of new-ish, while others probably were decades old. At the end, there were several dumpsters worth of trash and over 1,000 tires from all the hard work. As much as possible will be recycled and as the day closed, at least a small part of the AOAA's vast acreage was reclaimed.
