Rows and rows of Jeeps stretching far down the beach. Thousands, really, of all sizes and shapes sitting under the hot June sun in Wildwood, New Jersey. You may think this is just another Jeep show, but really it is an invasion. A huge, no holes barred invasion where the Jeeps start rolling in early and the line really never stops.
They call this the New Jersey Jeep Invasion, a three-day gathering this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday right on the Wildwood beach featuring tons of Jeep-industry vendors, an obstacle course, show and shine, parade and all the Jeep styles and designs you can shake an, er, tie rod at. Seriously. The best part - it is not at the beach, but on the beach. It is the only show around where you can register to drive your Jeep right on the beach, set up shop, and spend the day (or three) having a great time.
The NJ Jeep Invasion, now in its sixth year, has grown exponentially from its beginnings of a few hundred vehicles to 2,100+ Jeeps today. And yet in that time, it has stayed true to its roots and still gives back to the community. Event goers are encouraged to bring canned food to donate to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey's Southern Branch. This year saw a whopping 14,146 pounds of food donated - shattering last year's record of 7,800 pounds.
In fact, everything about the Wildwood portion of the Jeep Invasion has been so successful that organizers made the decision to hold another invasion event this October in nearby Ocean City, NJ. Registration for Ocean City Invasion is currently open and will be capped (for space reasons) at 500 Jeeps.
