In general its always a good idea to use an isolator when wiring in your winch. I've used them on both my TJ and XJ.

How many amps does the activation switch draw. Installing in a JL with the aux switch panel. Can I use a 15 amp switch or should I use the 40 amp switch?
That switch in that kit draws less than 5 amps so the 15 amp circuit will be fine. Thanks for your inquiry.

How many amps is this device rated?
The power interrupt kit is designed for a max amp of 450. Please note it is designed for winch use, which means intermittent use only, not a constant 450amps.
