OMIX 1st & 2nd Gear Shift Fork Reviews
The machining on this was terrible. The hole was too small for the shaft, I had to run emery cloth through it to get it to fit (I even tried freezing the shaft and heating the fork first), but at least the hole was actually straight in this OMIX brand one (don't buy the crown one, see my review there!) The steel in the shifter notch is a good idea, but mine were way too long, causing it to bind with the reverse gear shift fork and the 3/4 shift fork lug. The steel notch insert was about 1/8 inch out from the brass, and the brass notch was over a 1/4 of an inch thicker/deeper than the original worn out part. I had to do a significant amount of grinding to get it to fit properly without binding or scraping against the reverse fork and 3/4 lug. I was able to make it work, but unless you have the tools or experience to do that, find a brand other than OMIX or CROWN, or find a used one in decent shape.
