I have an 87 YJ 2.5l. The access for the top of my tank is a rectangle with hold-down screws, the picture shows round with a screw-on retaining ring.
You are describing a 20 gallon tank, you need 52002633 (Shape is no longer square, but fits the skid plate and accepts the sending unit and hoses)

No coating on this from the factory. Applying a layer of paint will definitely prolong the life
