Will this switch work on a 98 Jeep Cherokee?
No unfortunately the trim for the 2001 is the only model this fits.

will this plug and play with the KC auxiliary windshield light kit?
I am aware the KC kit comes with a switch but prefer the stock look.

Unfortunately no. These will only connect and operate factory lights which are routed through the factory wiring. It uses a different type of signal as a switch.
