Mean Green Starter Reviews
strong starter.
My "made in china" starter went out in my CJ-7 after several years of hard use. I wanted a better all around starter so I chose the Mean Green. I've seen advertisements for 20+ years, they must be legit. I've had it less than a year and now it's locked up. I contribute its failure to a water crossing I made about a month ago. Seemed pretty routine, water was about 3/4 the way up my 35in tires. Made a return trip back through the crossing. Starter sat for about 4 days after wheeling, now the internal water damage has turned my $300 starter into a paperweight. This unit obviously isn't sealed and I find it hard to believe that a $50 China starter that I bought from a local parts store has outlasted it several times over. I'd like to get a warranty replacement due to the fact that it's lightweight and very powerful (when not filled with water). I'll take a few precautionary steps to keep the water out if I get a new one.
1 star only because I could not give it 0.
Don't waste your money or time. The 1ST starter I received, worked about 2 times and then just spun and would not engage the the engine. I received a replacement with almost the same result. The wiring and battery in the Jeep are new. The old starter works just fine. I was simple looking to upgrade. I am now in the process of getting a refund.
It should also be noted that the replacement starter had a few cosmetic differences from the original. The exterior wiring and rear housing finish did not match. This leads me to believe that this starter is manufactured using inconsistent parts. But, the sticker matched.
