Alloy USA Front 27 Spline Chromoly Axleshafts Reviews
Assuming these are otherwise good, here is what it took to install in a 1980 CJ7: U-joint caps need chamfering and radiusing of sharp edges or will never come apart again. Grease fittings need to be removed in use - had to machine low profile 6.1mm plugs. Axle ears need to be spherically ground about .06 and flash removed to get enough steering angle, mine were 27* - increased to 31* to avoid binding. Knuckle holes need clearance grooves ground for protruding U-joint corners. Ground down lower ball stud about .08 to restore factory clearance. Factory yoke diameter was 3.275, these are 3.55 without mods, 3.41 with low profile zerk plugs, 3.37 with chamfered U-joints. All axle dimensions were good. Good luck, not an easy job, may want to stick with stock, I almost did, and am an Engineer with a machine shop. Don't know if any others brands are any better, this is not a professional product with attention to all details like stock. Makes you wonder if the steel is any good.
