Where does this shift boot cover fit? I have a 96 XJ 4-door with 5-speed. Prev owner pulled the console and replaced with aftermarket generic boot. I have replaced the console and am trying to find boot (inner and outer?) to fit the OEM console. I found the outer boot but heat comes up thru the hole in the floor under the console so presume there is also an inner boot that seals the hole in the hump where the shifter comes thru? Wondering if this is that boot?

This boot seals the top of the transmission, like a cap. Then there is the accordion style boot that is in the cab that is snapped down with the rectangle bezel. Originally #53005395 is an insulator that would sit between the accordion boot and the transmission cover. That part is no longer produced, but you should be able to make a heat shield for that area if you wanted to seal that up again.
