Quadratec Part #:

Skyjacker Part #:
JA650
Description
The pitman arm converts the rotary motion of the steering gear to the linear motion of the centerlink. When a vehicle has a suspension lift installed, the pitman arm changes its position in relation to the centerlink. A dropped pitman is designed to compensate for a vehicle's suspension lift to help maintain the factory feel at the steering wheel by eliminating "bump steer" and any potential interference with the steering components and the vehicle's chassis.

What is "rear mounted steering" SEE BELOW
Hello,
You asked the following question regarding the product "Skyjacker JA650 Dropped Pitman Arm for 72-75 Jeep CJ with 3"-4" Lift & Manual Steering"
https://www.quadratec.com/products/26029_1004.htm
Your Question:
I am looking for a 4" Dropped Pittman Arm for my 1957 Willys CJ5. Will this work, and if not, what do I need?
Our Answer:
Unfortunately we do not offer a drop pitman arm for earlier CJ's with rear mounted steering.
Vehicles prior to 1971 used a different steering system, (click here), which used a worm shaft and a steering gear mounted at the rear of the engine bay. More traditional gears are mounted at the front. The older design uses a different pitman arm connection to the drag link, one that we do not offer in a dropped format.
