American Autowire American Autowire Classic Update Wiring Harness Reviews
I really want to like this, I really think it is a good overall wiring harness, however the open barrel connectors that need to be crimped on the wires have proven to be in-crimpable…as a little background I have been mechanic heavily involved in wiring and general mechanical work full time for going on 30 years. I own every type of name brand crimper tool from Klein to MATCO which are made for open barrel connectors and all of them merely crush the connectors instead of rolling them into the wire and crimping like they should. So I also talked a good friend into this harness as initially before starting my install it appears very good quality. Well this individual has many years of actual restoration experience using multiple different brand harnesses and he is experiencing the same exact problem. Now if you need a specific crimping tool that is American Autowire specific then it should come with the kit or be reasonably priced as an add. But they are neither. Hopefully this will save one of you the headache.
