Howell Engine Developments Fuel Injection Conversion (California Legal) Reviews
Totally changed the way my CJ-7 258 motor runs. It was a little pricey, but not too difficult to convert over to, so worth it in the long run. I changed over from the stock 2-barrel to the small 4-barrel carb by holley a while back because I didn't want to make the investment back then and it didn't do so great, so during a massive restoration of my old 83, I sprung for this TB injection. I had to make an adaptor plate because it is designed to mount to the old intake manifold (the aftermarket 4-barrel manifold turns the carb 90 degrees in orientation), but with some creativity I got it set up and it makes all the difference in how it runs. A little wiring and placement of sensors on coolant and vacuum and power, and plumbing for fuel lines and it runs like a dream. I also sprung for the DUI distributor in this and venture and got rid of the ignition control and coil from the mix. Now since it is back to running...I probably have to change out the rear seal on the crank for years of setting. I don't want to leave piddle marks where I go. lol
Just had this TB injection installed on my 85 Cj-7 about 2 weeks ago. The throttle response is great, better gas mileage, seems to even have more torque...the only issue I'm having is my Jeep will not restart once it gets up to running temperature...it's almost like it becomes vapor locked...moved the fuel pump and fuel lines away from as many heat sources as necessary too, didn't do any good...other than that it's been awesome.
