Teraflex Drop Pitman Arm Reviews
My Teraflex pitman arm arrived painted plain black rather than the gray/black as in the listing picture. When I installed it, I could not get the sector shaft (clean and lightly greased) and pitman arm splines to engage more than halfway at the factory torque spec of 185 ft/lbs. This was because of the thick, rubbery paint on the pitman arm splines. It simply gummed up the interface and more torque would not overcome it. This is probably the #1 fastener on your Jeep that your life depends on so it MUST seat all the way. Quadratec quickly replaced it as defective, but the replacement was exactly the same as the first one, and also painted black. I then spent several hours with a variety of tools hand scraping the paint out of the splines on this new pitman arm. After that it seated properly onto the sector shaft. The price is right but understand that you will have to spend several hours scraping paint out of the splines to get it to seat properly. Had I known this ahead of time I'd have spent more and gotten a different pitman arm.
