What is the length of the seat belts?

The buckle end is 15 1/2" from the center of the mounting hole to the end of the buckle. The retractor (long) side is 131" from the mounting point on the retractor to the edge of the tongue.

Do these seatbelts fit with the original 1986 CJ-7 buckle sleeve?

They do not. The should use the buckle section that is included in the new complete belt set. The hardware for the buckle section should be reused though. Thanks for your inquiry.

Can you explain why they are not for a 1981 CJ7? Can they be modified to work?

Factory shoulder harnesses were not offered until 1982, so some drilling may be required to mount the shoulder bracket on a roll bar that was not equipped with this style of seat belt. Thanks for your inquiry.
