Tuffy Speaker & Security Console Reviews
It was a pita too install.
The storage is better than the original plastic
Because
1 there is more room
2 i like the steel construction
3 I know they did there best because this is the style or model that has the space underneath for the subwoofer speaker.
So taking that into account it’s better than the original in regards to available room.
It holds all my crap just fine with a lil organization.
4 I like the way it fits. I have no gaps. Unless I remove my interior carpet. Which I did do because I use the bed tread interior now.
5I like the added security.
6 I like that will hold my speaker.
7 I like the strong construction
8 The black powder coat matches everything in my jeep
I do have 2 negatives.
1 the reason why only give it 3 out of 5 stars is Because it’s such a pain in the ass to install, remove or anything when you’re trying to work on the speaker inside.
2 because the latch mechanism that keeps debris from getting underneath is a pushbutton latch or the little steel arm that rotates unlock it broke off. Sometimes I have things I get stuck underneath that. Like my glasses my wallet. You can always open it in an open it just takes a lot of strength pushing down on the button if something stopping the bottle from going in on the other side because the button has to go in to Open it. Meaning it’ll always lock or unlock, but if something I like a little bit of debris from your glasses or your phone or your wallet gets underneath that button that you’re trying to push down to Open the lid, just say goodbye to whatever it is cause you’re gonna have to push that hard. In other words if it’s your phone for the love of God put your phone down and that CD holder. Not up by the locking mechanism for her to get jammed up.
Food for thought about the locking mechanism comes down and shuts if there is something in the way that stops the small metal arm from turning when the key is inserted you will never open it. Not without a fight. However if you just use the little metal protector box that goes around the locking mechanism in the instructions nothing can jam and nothing can stop it from opening and closing and locking and unlocking. Maybe the guy who wrote the Last review forgot that one. It’s really simple just follow the instructions. However that little metal box goes around the locking mechanism to keep it free of debris it’s not being used and something gets underneath it because you have to push the button and it won’t push it not without a fight. Or somethings in the way of a little metal arm that turns when you turn the key in the lock, you’ll have trouble turning it. I don’t have any problems and I don’t even use the little metal box anymore as I broke It. I’ve never ever had trouble with it locking or unlocking. But it sure is a pain in the rearend to open the damn thing when something gets stuck underneath the push button and that’s not the push button push all the way down in order to open.
Anyways I saw the last guys review and I understand it. But it wasn’t quite right or accurate as I think he just didn’t follow the instructions to install the little mechanism guard around the lock or that wouldn’t be happening. Because that will stop things from being too close to the side where the small arm turns and rotates to lock or unlock if it’s there. However like I said if somethings underneath it when you push down on them latch button with the key inserts it might be a pain in the ass.
The front part is too wide; it doesn't allow the seats to fold and tilt forward. Had to pay almost $150 to return it.
Returning as soon as possible! I got the Charcoal color and it looks blue. The lock was stuck because they put the hardware bag in the console. The console compartment was tiny you might be able to put your phone in and that's it. Also for how expensive it is, it is not constructed as amazingly as they say they are. There were gaps in the metal and over all not a good product at all. The shipping was incredibly fast but that's the only good thing out of this full ordeal. Hopefully returning it will be easy.
