Smittybilt Stryker Rear Bumper Reviews
The look
Great looking bumper. Must be recently made because I did not find any reviews on it or pictures of it on other JKs, had a production date of 2019 i think. The box was well packaged and secured, all hardware included, I did not use all screws and washers because they just included way too many. The removal of the old bumper was easy, the removal of the old hitch hook was difficult, I used WD40 and Impact Wrench and a lot of force. The installation was a pain also, requires two people unless you get creative. The instructions are useless, very terrible. I pretty much used common sense, it’s a direct bolt on meaning it uses the same holes and mounting locations of the OE bumper and also comes with 2 brackets that attaches to the frame and bumper, don’t forget those brackets. The bumper is Stubby but also includes ‘wings’ or end caps to make the bumper look medium size, be very careful with them, if you want that look then you need to install those first before putting the bumper on, otherwise is gonna be very difficult to install. The wings use Torx screws i think about 6 or 8 of them, easy to put on, be careful not to scratch the bumper with them as you’re putting them on, the bumper is easily scratched. If You have LED cubes put them on before installing the bumper also. I bought Quadratec cubes which don’t really line up with the opening the bumper has, you gotta be creative on how to mount them, i used a lot of zip ties to hold them, and they’re holding up. I don’t think those cubes are meant for bumpers other than Quadratec Brand Bumpers, the holes don’t line up with the Cubes. Once installed they look good. Also comes with a Hitch Receiver, that’s a plus, to make it easy, install that first as well before putting the bumper on. After all is set and done, the bumper looks great.
