Rugged Ridge Voyager Soft Top Reviews
Giving 4 stars for now. The material seems high quality, but here were tips and gripes
1-The directions kind of sucked. I had to figure out the rails myself. Part of the issue was on me. In my eagerness I got a L bracket mixed with the right. SOme of the videos I watched seem to say that on each bracket section you use a front bracket in front and a rear bracket in the rear of that section. Thats not the case. Fronts go over front doors Rear....rear.
2-The top is very tight. That is to be expected so leave the top out in direct sun light for a few hours to loosen up would be helpful. Unfortunately after I started it clouded up and did not have that option. It is really tight, but I suspect that after a few days it will settle in.
3-THe brackets that hold the front down, stick out too far and my visors will not go all the way to resting position. As per instructions I left the factory plastic piece in place and wondering if that is removed if the visors would return to resting.
4-speaking of the front fold back portion. I like it, but there is velcro on the sides which you can hear rip away when you put the top back. Seems odd.
4-Im going to be shocked if this top does not leak some.
This was the only top that gave me what I wanted for a summer top. A top that I can enclose everything if I wanted to and just leave a bikini top when I took the doors off. I have even seen some people saying they roll the back up and tuck it under the front portion to open up the whole cab, although I don't think the manufacturer recommends that.
Over all it seems like a quality top. I will be surprised if it doesn't leak a little(but I mean. Its a jeep.) The initial set up is a pain, but I suspect that once the top breaks in next season will be easier. This top will stay on my jeep all summer till the hard top goes back on about October.
I’ve ordered this soft top last October from quadratec . And it’s been shipped internationally and installed in 17th of October. Over 3 months of use i can tell you it’s worth the money . Good material quality and nice finishing. Easy to install if you’re familiar with something like it . For the first install it’s gonna be hard because of the fabric need to be stretched but after few days of the installing its will be easier . While driving it’s noisy as hill with speed from 120-130km (70-80mph)my phone showed it’s around 98 dB both with or without top . Never have water leaking . I wish if its have a bag to store it in off season.
I ordered the soft top on a Friday and I received it the next Thursday. It was packed very nicely in the box. The directions say 3-4 hours to install. I’am very handy and can figure things out, but due to poor directions and images it took me about six hours. This included taking off my hard top for the first time. The installation was not hard, the directions where not good. There is certain brackets that need to be used in a certain spot, and they look very similar. Parts need to be labeled better. The written part of the directions were not good ether or the pictures.
I had to redo some fabrication steps due to bad directions. One huge step that is not mentioned is that the back frame bracket needs to be bolted to the Jeep using a bolt from the hardtop. The directions for the safety strap is not clear, but I did figure it out. The straps do not seem to fit to well on the back, the Velcro does not even needed. We will see. The back part is a bit tight also, I am not sure the bottom will hold up, we will see. The top looks good, but I’m not sure Yet. The top is very tight and I hope it loosens up a bit.
I have only had it on for one day, we will see how it is. I had a Jeep unlimited after market top and it was very easy to take down to go topless. The way this is installed I am not sure I go go topless the way it was manufactured. The bars for the flip back are screwed on and not easy to undo to take the top off.
Does this make it easy to open the roof, rather than taking the hard top inserts out ? Yes..
