Rugged Ridge Performance Hood Vents Reviews
nice look
Performance Hood Vents for 97-18 TJ- LOVE THEM!!!
I'm not going to lie, I was very nervous about cutting into my hood plus, I didn't like the location the Template was going to put the hood vents at. To me, they would be way to far up and water would drip down on my battery and sensors. So after a lot of measuring, I placed them more forward. Just past my alternator on one side and between the radiator fan on the other side-and it was perfect. Hint: remove your hood, it's easier. Measure center of your windshield wiper nozzle and come down 20 inches to the front of the Jeep, then measure 20 inches from the front of your Jeep to the middle. Make a mark. Then measure 13.5 inches in from both sides of your hood. Make your mark. Cut you TJ Templates out from the sheet and place them where you marked. Now take the Vents and lay them on top of the Templates. Take a step back and make sure they look even,. You can re-measure just to be safe. When even, remove the Vents and tape the Templates down. Now drill, your screw holes first, then drill your corners so you can make your cuts. After cutting, file down your cuts, prime your cuts with anti-rust primer, let that dry then use your vehicles color touch up spray. When dry, install your vents, put your hood back on and enjoy. If you take it slow, you will not have any issues. One of the best upgrades for $59 bucks you can make. My engine bay is much cooler now, plus I think it's helping my cold air intake work more efficiently. My rig is a 01' 2.5L 3-Speed Auto Tranny w/ 4 inch lift, heavy duty everything sitting on 33x12.50 R15's plus Throttle Body Spacer, Super Turbo 3" Catback Muffler & Exhaust. She runs like a 5 cylinder with a lot of pep for a 4 banger. With this upgrade, she is a little bit faster now!!! I hope this helps in making your decision to buy. They do work-very happy!
install was very easy. I used my own measurements but they send a template to keep them even if you need it. looks great and fully functional!
