Jeeps are known for being durable vehicles that can conquer any terrain. However, they are infamous for limited cargo space. Improve your JL Wrangler’s payload with the Rough Country Roof Rack System. This 100% bolt-on roof rack features integrated light mounts and an all steel construction. For corrosion resistance and longevity, Rough Country finishes their Rack System in a tough black powder coat. The rack system is compatible with both 2 and 4 door models, and has a 250lb maximum carrying capacity.
For Use with Factory Hardtops Only
Bolt-On Installation: No cutting, drilling, or other modifications are required in order to install the Rough Country Roof Rack System. The front mounts clamp to the hardtop drip rail, and the rear bolts onto the liftgate hinge mounts. On 4-door models, this rack will not obstruct the install and removal of the Freedom Panels.
Integrated Light Mounts: The Rough Country Roof Rack System features built-in LED light mounts. The front of the rack fits a dual-row 50in bar, and the rear has accommodations for two 2in cube lights.
Weight Rated: The Rough Country Roof Rack System has a maximum weight capacity of 250lbs.
LED Lighting: If you select the version of this rack that comes with Rough Country Black Series LED Lights, then you will receive a dual-row 50in LED light bar for the front, and a pair of 2in LED cube lights for the rear. Rough Country Roof Rack System Reviews
Seems very solid now that it is completely installed on my 2018 JL 4dr. Looks good. I didn't get the lights. Took a few hours longer to install compared to estimate, mostly because of poor instructions. The instructions have pictures which do not exactly match the included parts or even the written text. Most notably, the instructions inconsistently mention that the front mounts should be 10in or 9in back from the front of the hard top. The correct answer seems to be 9in. I also found it easier to install the cross bars after lifting the basket onto the Jeep as it is much lighter that way.
Solid and well built. I bought this for my 2018 JL Unlimited. The rack looks good and allows the freedom panels to be removed while installed, that’s a plus. I got the kit with the lights. I would have rated it 5 stars if not for the instructions. They are seriously terrible. The instructions for the rack assembly and installation are a copy of a copy of a... you get the idea. They’re black & white and not easy to read. Thankfully, from Quadratec or RC you can download the color version of the instructions. That only helps a little because now you can read them and see the pictures (somewhat) but they’re still pretty bad. I would have gladly paid $1 more for color instructions in the box. I would have pad $10 more for accurate instructions. Sometimes the instructions tell you which parts and how many... sometimes they don’t. And when they do, they may not be correct. I had a particular issue installing the front 50” LED. The problem? I was following the directions for the rack that clearly said to use the hardware that came with he light. I finally called RC and they were super helpful. It took a while for them to track down the answer, but it was... “yeah, don’t use the hardware that came with the light. There’s hardware for that in the rack kit.”... oh, so that’s what those bolts that are not in the packing list are for. Good to know. Seriously, a good rack and a good option. And, if you’re handy, you’ll probably breeze through it without the issues I had because I was trying to follow directions. The rear cube lights came with extensions that run nicely right to beside the rear passenger seat. Since the JL has pre-wired AUX switches, I cut the harnesses apart and just use the lights from the wire. I also added quick disconnects for the lights so I could take the top off without any hassle.
