Rough Country Molle Panel Bed Mounting System Reviews
Panels are well made and we’re not hard to install. When drilling holes for the nutserts, look closely at the truck bed panels for little indents. On the other side of those indents are metal rails that you cannot drill into so make sure to position the mounting brackets away from those areas. I had to re-drill a hole because of this. Also, these panels do actually work with the mopar trail rail system. Just take out the three bolts closest to the back of the truck, slide the brackets behind the rail, and reinsert the screws. I did not have to take the rails off. 4 stars because the instructions weren’t clear on where to avoid drilling holes.
Panels are great, sturdy, well made. The install, I’m a mechanic, was a cluster.. The top holes are ok, you have to buy the threader… The bottom holes you must buy a tool also to be able to put the nut in… Either way, as the others have said, there is no way this is a 30 min project and extremely poor instructions..
When I first purchased my Jeep, I had thought that the stock tie-down points would be sufficient for my needs. My first time taking it on a trail with my family and all the stuff we had in the bed, quickly proved me wrong. I had seen similar products on other vehicles and thought this would be a good alternative. From the look and feel of the Panels themselves, they seem great, they even have additional holes that would make bolting things in fantastic. The reason I'm giving this 3 starts is because the installation was terrible. The instructions were vague, the mounting hardware cheap, and the brackets themselves seemed like they were meant for a different vehicle, as they were too "tall" for the Gladiator, the Panel was sitting on the bed. Oh and the 30min install is laughable, unless you make a living off installing these things. We ended up having to drill different holes, after careful measuring, and we ended up buying stainless steel bolts and fasteners. Also for the cab side installation, the upper corner instructions say to "screw it into the holes." The holes that are already in the bed of every Gladiator (I assume), where the bolts should screw into, are just large holes and no threads to screw into. We ended up using Nutset inserts here and at least for the moment, that works. Now that the installation woes are out of the way, these seem like fantastic Panels. They appear to be very sturdy and durable. If you know your way around tools and are aware before hand that the estimated installation time is bogus, then even that shouldn't give you much concern.
