Rock Hard 4X4 Front & Rear Lower Control Arm Skid Plates Reviews
These are very high quality and the rears are something that you should get if you plan to take your Jeep offroad. However, the fronts are unnecessary. If you actually get out under your car before buying these, you can see that the front already has a little protection. These are better, definitely, but it's probably only worth the money for the front covers if you are a serious off-roader. If I could do my purchase again, I would only buy the rears.
Side note: I had to use a grinder to make these fit with a lift kit with shock extensions. They are made to perfectly fit the control arms, and they do, but there's no room for the extension brackets. Easy fix with a grinder though if you have one.
Quality parts right here, for sure. Very good protection and the install wasn't the worst. The rears were mounted in under 10min, fronts not so lucky. Took about 30min, then I re-installed my control arms out of frustration to try again later. Turns out a) the tolerance/fitment was not so good on the driver side. One of the ears was bent inward, not fitting over the control arm mount. Used my 1-1/2 ton floor jack to spread them 1/8", slid right into place after that. b) the instructions clearly state L & R are non-specific front and rear. Lies. The front are L/R specific. I had one mounted to find that there is a difference, had to un-mount and re-mount to other side. All in all, part of the game and totally happy with the end result!
I am very impressed with the build quality of these plates. They are extremely rugged and fit very well. The were not the easiest to install, but I do not find that to be a bad thing considering the difficulties were around how well they fit. I highly recommend these to anyone considering them.
