Pypes Performance Exhaust High Ground Clearance Exhaust with Street Pro Muffler Reviews
I installed this a few weeks ago and could not be happier. First off it sounds way better than the stock one did which was just quiet. My Jeep is my "Toy" so a quiet exhaust is not what I'm going for, that's what the car is for. That being said when your at idle or at a stop sign its hard to hear it. but when you rev it up to take off its not super loud but the tone and sound is good.
2nd, I didn't Dyno the Jeep before or after the install so I don't know what it was putting out for power but I will say that where my jeep struggled to keep up at 75 on the highway before I now catch myself doing over 80 a lot. I must still be too used to putting the pedal down to keep up with traffic.
3rd, I know for a fact that my dashboard AVG MPG was around 13 to 14 and in since the install its been creeping up and is currently reading 15.7. I have not changed the style or amount of driving i do on or off the highway to get that either. I'm not sure I have ever seen the AVG MPG that high now that i think about it.
I have a 4 door JKU so the install itself was EASY, I used a reciprocating saw to cut out the old exhaust which made that a breeze. Fit up for the new one was like putting legos together. I only had to make one cut to shorten the makeup piece, which I did with a chop saw but could have done with the reciprocating and it would have been fine. It came with New hangars which I used to get the tail pipe away from the Frame at the back end. They are just a little bit longer than the stock rubber hangars.
With all of that and the price for a stainless exhaust I am Very Happy with my purchase.
Installed on my 2007 JK today. Nice quality and really excellent fit. The sound is definitely deeper and medium level louder than stock....but that’s kinda the point right.
I used the factory heat shield from the rear and trimmed and moved it under the new street pro muffler. Used the factory evap canister mounts for the shield.
Perfectly placed, good clearance with this moved shield.
I need to make one minor adjustment as I have the very tip of the exhaust touching the rear frame. I think i just left the rear section about one inch too long.
I was impressed how well all the mount points fit and lined up with the factory rubber hangers.
For the price, this is really fantastic stuff.
Exhaust systems are very subjective, and the tone your exhaust makes has to be something you're comfortable with. That said, this exhaust on a JKU with a 3.6L sounds nothing like a "fart can", or a small 4 cylinder Honda engine. It has a low throaty tone at low RPMS and sounds like a riot when you give it the beans. Absolutely worth it, and excellent quality for the price. I had the M-80 version on a 3.8L Jeep and loved it, this sounds even better in my opinion.
