The welded and threaded nuts on the slide rail brackets were never cleaned after drilling, so all the metal fragments were then powder coated over. You MUST run clean each hole, lube it, and run the bolt in and out a few times. This was very poor quality control.
Here is the key. I found a youtube video of a guy are frustrated as I was. I took his advise..... Mount the brackets to the rails on BEFORE installing them on the jeep. Leave the slides loose so you can adjust the step position before securing everything for the final time.
Product is decent. Chase all the tapped holes right off the bat. Not only to clean the coating off but to see which way the welded nut is leaning. Then get two friends, a monkey and a football and start on the passenger side per instructions. (They tell you this because if you started on the driver's side you would return them before finishing the install) I ended up hanging the front and back mounts on the vehicle but the center on the slider. I also put a bolt in the leading hole of the insert on the front mount and the trailing on the back so you can hold it while you support the slider and attempt to get the mounting bolts started. The front mount slider bolts are in such a tight area that you can only turn your allen key one flat at a time X2 and the drivers side is even tighter. (you may want to cut an allen key ahead of time) All of the mounts on the drivers side have holes so close to the bracket that you have to put the flat washer on flush to the mount then add the bolt with the lock washer. I would be amazed if anyone can do one side in an hour even with your friends, monkey and football.
The product itself is great, I really like the product. The issue is the install. It was without doubt the worst mod I think I have ever installed. It truly needs at least 3 people to get these installed, the brackets and way they connect are really awful. Go Rhino and their R&D department needs to rethink this one. If it wasnt such a hassle , I would have returned these, but be warned , install is absolutely awful for these steps.
