Crown Automotive Header Opening Seal Reviews
Install was easy, removing old adhesive was a chore but some 3M trim remover helped. We had rain the next day so i tested it in real world driving and had no leaks. I used some rivets and washers out of my parts drawer and am ignoring that the rivets aren't black. Compared to the old OEM seal it looked like an exact clone.
Pretty Disappointing.
Tried to install this last night. Spent over two hours in a 95 degree garage cleaning all the old adhesive off my windshield channel and cleaning it with alcohol in order to get a good seal. The install was a breeze, but I noticed today that the adhesive wasn't sticking after a few hours.I decided to take my soft top off and go by the Mopar instructions for installation, by leaving it with no "load" for 8 hours. Thing is, the seal still isn't sticking properly now. Looking on different websites, my problem isn't a rarity.
Look, this is a problem for both Crown Auto and Quadratec, in my opinion, because I used to think of Crown as a good quality name in auto parts. I also don't think Quadratec should be selling this part if it acts like this.
Now, I'll try to reach out to QT to see what can be done, but I really doubt anything. Now I'll have to order the Mopar part, and 2 new rivets and do the whole thing over again! Very aggrevating.
I guess the old addage still stands: buy nice, or buy twice.
