Alpine i509-WRA-JK 9" Multimedia Dash Restyle System Reviews
I have had this system installed about 3 months now and i am so glad i bit the bullet and spent the money. My 2016 JKUR Hard Rock already had the 9-speaker Alpine upgrade so adding this Alpine unit just made sense. It really brought my factory Alpine speakers to life to their full potential. With the time correction and multiple EQ options no matter what type of music you listen to this thing rocks. I use Apple carplay and I have had no connectivity issues at all. The wireless carplay is great, navigation using Waze app or google maps is great, and the Alpine HCE-C2100RD multi-view back-up camera i added as well looks great on the 9" screen. The display is easy to see in the sun or at night and is customizable. The dash bezel matches the OEM trim and it looks like it came from the factory. It doesn't have that obnoxious oversized floating screen like some of the other units. 5 stars.
The system looks reliable and sophisticated.
So far looks great in the jeep and works pretty well, but I do have a complaint that is just obnoxious. I pay attention when I'm driving, so things that flicker or distract that I see in the corner of my eye cause me to look so I can react to them. Well rather than using the Day/Night sensor that the Jeep already has built in which works wonderfully, they decided to put their own sensor on the front of this. The sensor is too sensitive and there is no way to adjust it. So I'm driving along on a nice sunny day, I pass under a large tree and *flick* night mode. Then out from under the tree *flick again* back to day mode.
I can set it to be either undimmed or dimmed all the time, but as anyone with a jeep can guess, the night mode is too dark to see when the jeep is open. And the light mode is almost blinding at night.
For the price, this oversight is a bit disappointing since I know most much cheaper stereos don't have this issue.
