Reviews for Lange Originals Crank Hoist-a-Top for 18-20 Jeep Wrangler JL
This was challenging to install, but the video helps a lot. Once up, it works extremely well and makes taking off the top an easy one person job. Make sure to read the instructions for how to attach to the top, and don't lose the butterfly nut! This is well designed. I opted for the crank, but the motor might be nice if you have the extra cash.
Exactly what I needed to put my top on/off by myself. I noticed one comment that mentioned the lift moves too slow. Well, it uses a worm gear so you don't have that obnoxious ratcheting sound like you do with boat trailer winches. I left off the handle, jammed the nylok nut in place and used a 19mm socket with my cordless drill. Works great!
Great product that makes it easy to take off and remove the top.

Looks nice
Pretty okay product for what you pay, however the piece that holds the back window frame did not fit properly and my husband had to bend it to make it at more of a straight ankle instead. I have a 2021 JL Wrangler Sahara. Instructions were horrible unless you used the QR code for the video and that still wasn't great. It took him a total of 5hrs to put together. I recommend using a drill with the pulley instead of the handle otherwise it'll take all day to life and lower. The screws that come with it weren't good so we had to buy more and an additional few clips. Husband said 3.5 star.
Product works as advertised. Screws suck. You need to purchase your own better quality screws. Had to watch three different YouTube videos to install. Also, make sure to use WD-40 on the winch/crank.
It is adequate. Install took a long time. Expect to crank it A LOT to lift the top! It moves very slowly. For a JL, you have to unbolt the rear holder every time to take off and put on. It works, but surely for $350 there is something better. I bet the one for $150 works just as good!
3 stars because it does actually work. The instructions are sufficient with addendum for the JLU. The metal rods clip in and don’t seem all that sturdy and look bent with the weight of the top. I couldn’t get the freedom tops to sit on top securely as described. If I was still shopping, I’d look for alternatives.
It say's that this works with ceilings 7'-20' it does not. I have a 15'-6"ceiling and it didn't even come close to having enough cable. Lang needs to re-write the info. on this. I had to use 60' of cable to make this work in my garage. All Lang had to say was sorry. Didn't even offer to send me the correct length.
