While this is inexpensive to replace relative to the B&M shifter's price, if you're like me and have ripped the foam (at the spot where it's most thin, near the breather), I have a way that worked well to fix the ripped foam.
I used a bamboo skewer, or similar 1/8" wooden dowel, and pushed it through the foam to connect the two halves where the foam had ripped. It was a bit challenging, but I pushed it into the foam from underneath my Jeep, with the foam already installed and with the transmission bolted back to the crossmember. Then, from above, I used some black RTV silicon to glue the foam back together.
By all means, do replace this item if it rips. But, if you're in a pinch and need to get your Jeep back together, the above method may work for you. :)

The gearshift lever seal worked great. Very pliable and strong. I was able to install without loosening the gas tank or transmission on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited by slowly working and pushing it through the body and around the shifter. All from the cabin opening. It did not tear and I did not cut it.

Exactly as described. No more. No less. The foam is brittle and the transmission should be lowered to install properly. If you try to just stuff it through the top it will tear into multiple pieces (ask me how I know).
This is a brittle piece of foam. Tears easily and if I had to do it again I would just go to the dealer instead. It does not stretch at all like the factory piece of foam.
