What's the difference between the Twill soft top and the Sailcloth soft top?
Twill fabric is known as the "Premium Top Option" fabric when purchasing a new Jeep. It's thicker, darker black, softer, and designed to last much longer. Luxury car brands that have soft top convertibles utilize this same fabric. It's an overall better material than Sailcloth. It cuts down on road noise inside the Jeep and keeps in the heat/AC better when you use them. I've had both tops and I'd never get anything other than Twill!

what is the real world difference between the Twill, Vinyl and Acrylic fabric on the soft top. I live in Canada so Mopar can call the fabrics different than US.
So what is listed as the acrylic and the twill are the same, with different names. Now the difference between those and the vinyl is substantial. The twill/acrylic option is a thicker polyester blend fabric with 2 additional layers. The middle layer is a butyl rubber that gives the top strength and of course water resistance. The inner layer is a decorative black fabric that is purely aesthetic but does add to the overall weight and thickness, total thickness is 30 oz The windows are 40mil thick and always tinted. . The black vinyl or otherwise listed black diamond sailcloth, is a 28 oz fabric with 30 mil windows that is the same style that has been used since 1987. A thinner 3-layer option with 2 layers of vinyl and a poly cotton layer with the backing that looks unfinished and you can see the cording. The twill/acrylic is better for insulation both sound and climate. It is better to handle year-long usage in cold conditions if you are going to get rid of your hardtop. The black diamond is nice if you are going to swap back to the hardtop in the cold months and just need something to keep the Jeep protected during storms.

After installing the soft top hardware is it possible to leave the hardware on when i put the hard top back on? Thank you
No unfortunately you will have to remove some parts of the hardware to install the hardtop on the vehicle. Parts needing removal are door surrounds and folding frame work (which easily removes from the vehicle in one piece by unbolting the folding mechanism from the bracket on the sport bar). The brackets can remain.

WIth the soft top windows installed, can the rear gate door still be opened and closed on a JL Unlimited?
Yes you can open the tailgate with the windows installed. The rear window uses a tailgate bar to span the tailgate opening.

What is the biggest difference between twill and sailcloth?
The twill is a fabric outer layer, a thick butyl-rubber core layer and decorative under-pinning for the inside. More like what you would see on high-end convertibles. The sailcloth is a vinyl and polyester layered, lighter skin. A couple points to consider: Twill is good for year-round usage due to its insulation. it holds up in the winter so hardtops are a thing of the past. The twill is about 30% heavier, if you plan on lowering your top during the spring and summer months, it can be heavy and cumbersome, the sailcloth is a better option for owners that like to go topless frequently.

How can I tell if my Jeep has the twill or the sail cloth?
The factory soft top is offered in either Twill or Sailcloth. If you have the Premium soft top package then it is Twill. If you have the standard soft top then it is Sailcloth.

Does this include the door surrounds?
Yes, it does.
