Reviews for LoD Offroad Signature Series Mid-Width Front Bumper with Bull Bar and D-Ring Tabs for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT
Great product. The only drawback I've seen so far is the wiring harness for the lights has no real way to be secured. It just lays in the bumper. Once I get my winch installed I'll be looking for ways to secure it.
well made
Bumper received less than 2 weeks after ordering. Packaging was very secure. The installation was a pain. I ended up using a combination of the instructions from LOD's website and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okvPypQBofA. Total install took about 5 hours including removing the old bumper. Overall I am very happy with the bumper.
I installed the Signature Series mid-length bumper on my 2020 Rubicon JL. Fit, function and quality are top notch! Installation was simple, the hardest part was dismantling the OEM plastic bumper to get the fog lights out. Everything on the new bumper fits and looks great. EXCEPT: I installed a Smittybilt X20 winch and ran into an issue with the winch sitting too low in the bumper and on the winch plate. I ended up adding 3/8" bushings to raise the winch. The angle of the cable coming off the winch and through the fairlead put the cable in contact with the metal bumper. I couldn't go any more than 3/8" though because of the control box wiring hitting the front lower portion of the grill. I made it work.
My review is for quality packaging. If you are wondering if the bumper will make it to your house without falling out of the box, look no further! It took a good 30 minutes to dig this thing out of the packaging. The bumper looks really nice. 2 things I noticed that some may wonder about: 1. D-ring tabs are not welded on the back side, only the front side. 2. the bumper is two pieces welded together at about 75% of the seams. I wouldn't worry about any of these items as I don't plan to hang my jeep from a crane using the d-ring tabs. Now if my gator gladiator would show up I could install it!
Really could have used basic instructions as the kit for the JL is different from the instructions shown here. Nothing too hard to figure out, but making sure I was using the right bolts in the right place took a few minutes. The 4 outside the frame bolts on either side were an absolute pain to get started and to tighten, even my wife and her tiny hands had an issue. Once all the bolts were started, and I figured out how to tighten those out bolts, everything was incredibly simple. (Any hints from the peanut gallery are welcome)
Whining aside, the quality of this kit is outstanding. High quality hardware, everything fit perfectly, the welds and finish were perfect. I was thinking of buying another brand, but when the time comes I will be getting the LoD rear bumper.
One thing though, if you have big catcher mitt hands like me, consider the full width bumper instead! More room between the fog lights and the frame bolts to wedge in there to get the bolts started.
Easy installation spent a few hours alone in the garage installing. I think I spent more time disassembling the old bumper to remove the fog lights. The fitment of the bumper was spot on and did not require any modifications. I later installed a Smitty X20. Funny thing, I thought the package shipped without instructions, it was until after I installed that I realized that the instructions are to go to LOD's website.
