Reviews for Mopar 82215137AC Hood Lock Kit for 18-24 Jeep Wrangler JL
Easy to key, several good videos online explaining how to do it yourself. No need to take it to the dealer or locksmith, just take it slow and be patient.
So far I'm very happy to have my hood locked & secure...specially to protect battery, expensive LED front lights now...Recommended!
Bought the Mopar Hood Lock for JL, and it is easy to install yourself. The time consuming part is putting together the lock cylinder and lock box, once you are past that step it's pretty quick to put on your Jeep. And you DO NOT NEED to take this to a dealer or locksmith. If you follow a similar pattern for keying it as is shown in the Quadratec video for the Mopar Locking Gas Cap for the JL, you can do it on your own. Just be patient testing the tumblers like they stress in the video. Bonus, if you already bought the Mopar Gas Cap and keyed it yourself, the same tumblers for the gas cap will work in the last 4 slots for the Hood Lock since it's the same key... as long as you wrote down what those were, you'll only need to determine the first 3 tumblers in this since the hood lock has 7 slots (instead of only 4 slots like the gas cap).
I installed this lock in about 30 minutes with the help of a friend. I did take it to a locksmith before and had to pay extra as I was not aware of the quadratec video. Works like a charm
I installed it yesterday on my JL (two doors), assembly without any problem (except that I had to buy a pliers for rivets whose rod is really big and could not find one at my friends).
The "coding" of the key is very easy thanks to the video made by Quadratec. Your videos are excellent, thank you!
great product although it was back ordered for 8 months. Instructions indicate the lock must be keyed by the dealer. You can key the lock by following the instructions on this video:

Vey secure. The only down fall is how much pressure is needed to open with the key and how deep it is.
Awesome kit overall. Fairly easy to put together but it takes some time between keying the key cylinder (thanks to Quadratec for the video) and just putting together the housing and all that. Make sure you get a big rivet gun (got mine for $17 on Amazon) and be careful with the nut for the key cylinder as Mopar has a ton of thread locked and it's hard to get it started without thinking you're going to strip it.
Last but not least, the downside to this lock is that you can't take the key out with it unlocked so basically it forces you to have it locked all the time.
I do not recommended this product, easy to break and supper poor instruction
Came with no instructions. I asked Quadratec and they said they couldn't provide any. So I took it to my Jeep dealer to install. They told me it came with no instructions so they couldn't/wouldn't install it. Bottom line, unless you're comfortable "winging it" on your own, don't buy this kit. Incredibly disappointed in both Quadratec and Mopar.
