Reviews for Rugged Ridge 12107.10 Wall Mount Door Holders for 76-23 Jeep Wrangler JL, JK, TJ, YJ & CJ
Took me 3 hours to install. Garage is built 24 inches on center, and simply installed 2x4s to span the gap for the door latches. Be sure to get lag bolts to mount the hangers, AND PRE-DRILL HOLES! Brackets are (overkill) strong enough to hold the doors. (4mm is between 8 and 9 gauge, by the way, thicker than the frame of a john deer riding lawnmower)
Liked that I can hang the doors on a flat wall, not needing an unfinished 2x6 interior wall like other options
Excellent construction with a great paint job. Easily assembled and mounted. I really like the striker plate that uses the door latch to keep the door secure from swinging out. One thing to keep in mind is how high on the wall you attach this. I keep forgetting I'm no spring chicken and the full Jeep doors are starting to get heavy. I recommend attaching to the wall as low to the floor as possible. Instruction says keep minimum 1 foot from floor. You have to supply your own 2 lag bolts for the door holder frame and 4 screws for the striker plate.
Great quality hanger and easy to install. Took one star off for the lack of foreword thought for JL doors. The door limiters hit each other and will not allow both doors to sit flush against the wall and hit the striker bar. Like others, I put 3 washers on each side of the bracket to gain enough space to make them work. Other than this flaw I really like the bracket and think it will last for several years.
This product is made of high quality material. I chose this product over other similar products because 1) the doors hang with the mirror side of door hanging away from wall and 2) they come with door latch hardware keeping door securely in place. For me, the kit not including lag bolts was not an issue as my mounting conditions required longer bolts than what would have normally been included. Only reason this gets 4 stars is because one of the striker bolts was defective. Should probably add the star back because of the quick customer service in replacing the striker bar.
Great product but if you have a JL, plan a trip to the hardware store first. Besides the wall mount hardware, Alex C's review helped me tremendously (Thanks Alex!) only I shimmed the hinges with three 5/16th washers on each side of the hinge mounts. That gave me about an 1/8th inch clearance between the door limiters. That also required a 2 1/2 inch 5/16th hex bolt, lock washer and nut. The factory bolt is too short to use. Took about an hour to install but I have 16" centers and OSB paneling in the garage. Would have been five stars if someone at Rugged Ridge would have thought about the JL's limiters.
Well built with great materials. They took 3 hours to install two for a JLU doors.
These are very well constructed , and easy to install. knocking one star off because in order to get these to work with the JL doors, I had to install 1/2" spacers to prevent the door stops from hitting each other when booth doors are installed on the rack.
Like others, downgrading the stars due to fitment for JL (have 2021 Rubicon Unlimited). All in took about 3 hours to fully install; none of it was hard, just time consuming. I didn’t have a stud centered on the wall so had to first secure 2x8 boards to span the studs and then installed the main vertical bracket on the 2x8s.
In terms of spacing, it is a MUST to install spacers between the hinge brackets so the door hinge checks don’t get pushed in. If they do, it is a royal pain to pull them out again for door reinstall.
Ending parts were 5/16 bolts (2 1/2”) and 5x 5/16 washers per side per hinge bracket. That gave me just enough clearance so the doors can sit on the wall without the door checks jamming into each other.
Great product but built for earlier than JL Jeep models. My JL doors hang on the top hinge and are about 1/4 inch above the bottom hinge. I am making a spacer but shouldn't have to. The striker brackets are a great idea and in my case the doors are actually hanging on them until I make my spacers for the bottom hinge. Instructions really need to be updated for JL. People are making spacers for the hinges to accommodate the fully open JL door checks when you just have to put them in the middle position for the doors to fit properly. The plastic bushings for the hinges do not stay in place but a wrap of duct tape around them is enough to make them fit snug in the hinge so they dont pop out every time you take the doors off it. Looks like everything is high quality and very well painted to I dont expect any quality issues over time. Overall I would recommend this but if you have a JL be prepared to make some spacers for the hinges.
