Reviews for Rampage Products 99306 Rock Rage Front Bumper for 07-23 Jeep Wrangler JL, JK & Gladiator JT
Solid bumper that checks most of the boxes. I installed this on my 2020 JT Gladiator Sport S. The description says its compatible with JK and JL also note that that I read that some JL customers had issue with the fog light mounts not being correct. I expected this to be the case for me and it took some minor trimming and drilling of the fogs to get them to mount up. The bumper is sturdy with a nice finish and weighing around 75lbs is heavy enough with out being overly heavy. There was a small bend it the fairlead moutnt area but straitened out when my fairlead was installed this was a minor issue. Jeep makes it easy to replace the bumper and Quadratec does well with putting the how to videos out there. Really easy project. Nice bumper that doesn't break the bank.
I love the bumper, the quality, the shipping time, the look and functionality, the price. Reason I said 4 star and not 5 was install. I had to buy new washers as the ones it came with were too wide to attach the stock fog lights. Plus the instructions need to be a color image, even online at the manufacturers site the images were black and white and useless. I have worked on a lot of jeeps in the past and found my way through it, but did it on my own and without the instructions. Other draw back was on my 2020 model, the bolts that mount to the frame were slight off in the layout, so I had to use a block of wood and hammer a sledge against it to get the bolts to go into the frame mounting spots. Which is fine, just wasn't a super easy install. I attached pictures as well. :p
Great quality bumper for the price. It’s steel, so very strong and sturdy. Exactly what I was looking for. Only gave it 4 Stars vs 5 because of two minor things. First was the little bit of rust on the bottom part of the bumper. Which I had painted over. And the second thing was the fog light extension that doesn’t come with the bumper. But I had it installed at an auto body shop, so they slightly bumped up the per hour charge. But overall very pleased so far with the bumper. Definitely an upgrade. And I got d-rings. That’s the nice thing about this bumper. You have options on how you want to customize it. You can put a light bar on, a winch, or d-rings like I did.
It is a good looking bumper for the price. I wish there was b more or better instruction to install the fog lights as it took me 2 hours to to put them in place. I had to drill new holes in the stock light brackets. One of the screw to install the fog light snapped in half while installing. Bumper wasn't as easy as I thought to fit in the 6 holes on jeep. It was my first time installing a aftermarket bumper and took me 4 hours. I am happy with my purchase.
Good solid bumper, installation was easy. I would have given it 5 stars but factory fog light brackets from a 2019 JL are not a direct fit without modifying them. One of the reasons I Picked this bumper was because it said the factory lights would work. Not a hard modification but not what I expected.
excellent quality. instructions could have been graphically clearer, but it all worked out in the end. One person install time = 3 hours. very happy with result.
Looks awesome on my 2017 Wrangler..However it arrived with a dent in the bull bar
I had this bumper on my JKU, and now have one on my JLUR. Great bumper for the money. A word of warning, I am replacing my steel bumper with the LED fog lights, and those lights will not mount on the bumper. So you will need aftermarket LED fog lights. This is the only reason for the 4 star, otherwise it is an easy 5 star.
Took awhile to get this from backorder, but this bumper looks awesome. A little shorter than I anticipated at the bottom, as it really shows off a lot of suspension and lower bumper brace (?) vs. the Ace bull bar bumper it is replacing. Took 3 hours to get my old rusty Ace bumper off and maybe 20 minutes to get this bumper mounted on my 08 JK all by myself (about 30 pounds lighter than the Ace too!).
It comes well packaged, but I did put a 8" scratch on the finish using a utility knife to cut through all the tape and wrap. Fixed by spraying black plasti-dip on the scratch and rubbing it in. My only complaint is the round fog lamp holes. The mounting holes and tabs at the holes are lacking to accomodate different round fog lamps unless you stick with the oem fogs. You can use the factory plastic fog mounting brackets with oem fog lights, but you only get 2 tabs to secure them (four would be better) at the hole opening. Besides the two tabs at the top (appx at 11 and 2 o'clock), there are two holes drilled in on either side of the opening. I was able to finally get a new set of Rugged Ridge 11232.27 LED Round Fog Lights installed with the RR mounting kit, but could only get it installed with one bolt through one of the side holes because the RR fog lights would not work with the oem plastic fog mounts. Very difficult to get the same depth on both sides and you have to pre-set the angle, tighten it down and hope it is correct before installing because you wont want the hassle of taking the fog lamps out once they are in. If your aftermarket fogs work with the oem plastic mounts then you have nothing to worry about. At least this bumper has light mounts on the bull bar if you like that. Since I am not running a winch I was able to fab a block for a front license plate from some thin sheet metal. Painted it with black bed liner paint and mounted using the winch holes....looks great.
Looks great, sturdy and really up's the cool factor.. but was challenging to install.. bolts on bumper did not line up with frame holes, off by just enough.. needed to drill out frame holes and take a hammer to some frame metal.. this could frankly be due to jeep manufacturing 'variances' or bumper.. not sure.. in the end was worth the effort.. I know people that had theirs fit exactly..
