Reviews for Bestop 51798-17 2-Piece Front Doors in Twill for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Ridiculously ill-fitting for the price. I wasn't expecting perfection by any means but I was expecting better than what I got. Passenger side is ok but the driver side literally leaves a gap between the upper and the right corner of the door that, as yet, no amount of bending, pulling, or adjusting can fix. I usually run doorless in the summer and got these to keep out critters overnight and to keep some rain out when the clouds open up. Needless to say, if I have advance warning of rains coming through, the hard doors are going back on. Kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me. I'm keeping 'em and I'll keep working with them, but these are $500 doors at best - and that's just because of the fabric. Pretty disappointing.
DO. NOT BUY - No matter how much adjusting or bending of the door they will never fit. The door latching mechanism is awful. Takes 2 hands and slamming the door to get it to close. Problem is the latch doesn’t always open all the way so when you slam the door to shut it, since the latch isn’t open the door will not close. You then have to fiddle with the latch and slam it again to close. A few times I gave up and just took the door off and threw in the back of the Jeep. Ultimately one of the door locks broke and popped out. Last thing, once the door is closed the top flaps at highway speeds and rain just pours in. I bought these to make it easier to take the doors off but I’d rather deal with the factory doors.
Would give zero stars if I could. After hours of trying to make them fit they just don’t work! When you adjust to to the handle, the door doesn’t fit it the frame. To the point where I can stick my hand through the gap at the top of the frame. When you adjust to the frame, the handle doesn’t latch closed. Terrible product. Don’t waste money or time on them.
I have to agree with Eric O. For 637.00 for the twill doors, and matching twill windows I expected a lot more. No amount of adjusting of the paddles or the lower hinge will close the 1/2 gap where the door curves that allows water to gush in. The pins and holes for the windows are so far out of alignment, I had to completely bend the middle pin out of the way to get the upper to seat. Now it’s a great place to impale yourself.
No. Just no. These leak. They REALLY leak. I contacted Bestop and they told me to bend them. Lame. These are so expensive I think it's reasonable to expect them not to leak.
