Reviews for Mishimoto MMRAD-XJ-89 Performance Aluminum Radiator for 89-01 Jeep Cherokee XJ with 4.0L Engine
Quality, reputation, warranty
I had the same problem with the lower transmission line elbow it also started to rub and I ended up with transmission fluid all over my garage floor and the under side of my XJ. I don't know what to do at this point I guess I will be researching.
The lower 90° transmission line fitting that pushes into the female end has the wrong dimensions or tolerances. It wouldn't push into the female dorman quick connect and when i forced it, I destroyed the o-rings inside. I don't like how the top transmission flare fitting is aluminum & welded to the radiator. If this ever stripped, how would you repair it. And there isn't a tab on the bottom of the radiator to screw the transmission line hold back into. I do like the radiator despite all the things I listed. I hope it doesn't leak because I read a lot of bad reviews having that problem. I bought the Cold Case radiator before and did NOT have any issues. Then my fan clutch ate the radiator when my motor mounts failed. I wanted to scream. I would have bought the Cold Case again but its NEVER instock!!!
Ordered two years ago today, just pulled it out and swapped for used radiator from another jeep to test. I've been chasing an overheating issue ever since. I never would have thought a 400$ radiator at the time would be at fault. Countless water pump swaps, thermostats, and fan swaps to think that the issue was fixed. And in the end there would be a senerio it would still overheat. The used radiator keeps it right around 200°-210° with out any effort. Even with 35s in 2ft of snow! Save your money and go with a stock radiator.
Overpriced piece of junk. Worst of several I have tried. Poor quality (the core and tanks were not even square and I had the same issue with the transmission cooler fitting mentioned in the other reviews) and didn't even cool as well as a Champion radiator at less than half the cost. My second time with a Mishimoto product. Never again. Cold Case makes a far better radiator at a lower cost. Keeps my 4.7 stroker cool in AZ heat. The Mishimoto DID NOT even come close.
