Reviews for Crown Automotive 5183442AA Wiring Harness Repair Kit for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ & Unlimited
Easy repair, but just needed the connector housing. It would be nice for Crown to sell the connector at a reduced price. Either way, I have my 21 year old Jeep back on the road. ;)
Just needed the connector for my repair. Just switched existing wires over to new connector and it fit perfectly!
Connector worked great. No soldering or extension wires needed in my case. Thankfully all of the pins on the existing wires were still good in mine, so all I had to do was swap out the connectors. The old connector was crumbling in my hands as I took the wires out of it. Definitely glad I caught it before things got worse. Make sure you keep the wires in the right order and everything should be good.
I installed this on my 06 LJ a few weeks ago and today I installed a Dorman brand on an 04 TJ. I would have purchased the crown brand again but it was out of stock. The Crown in my opinion is better the connector is the correct color and the terminals had more of a positive snap than the Dorman brand. All that is needed is a small pick tool and a wiring diagram and to change out the factory wires one at a time then double check the wiring diagram to make sure its correct. Everything thing else in the kit is not needed only the connector itself is needed this way all the wiring is still the factory colors and clean.
This wiring kit has proven to be a quality product for my application.
Worked great. I didn't have to use the pig tail wires thankfully, just replace a crumbling connector. If they have the colors of the wires in the instructions, why on God's earth do they send generic orange/purple wires vice the color coded ones?
Fast shipping looks like a good product. I haven’t had the time to install it yet
Basically if you need this connector you are at the mercy of the companies that sell the kit. Knowing this connector is prone to over heating the manufacturers of the repair piece are really banging the consumer.
The wires don't burn in most cases. The plastic connector fails.
