Reviews for Rugged Ridge Square Stubby Trail Mirror for 97-18 Jeep Wrangler TJ & JK
These mirrors are perfect when running without the doors. They're described as stubby but I can't imagine why I would need mirrors that stuck out any further.Forget the reviews about them vibrating, they do a little at speed but it's not a deal breaker. Wind noise? Sure, a little. When the tops off and the doors are gone does it really matter? I installed and tighten them down correctly and they've been everything they need to be.
Easy install, I found mirrors more stable if you flipped em upside down so that the label on the bottom of the mirror is on top, rugged ridge logo might be upside down but is barely noticeable and mirrors are much more stable.
Style
I have yet to install these, in part because the suppled bolts didn't fit the mounting points on the JK; they also didn't match the instruction.
this makes the jeep legal. It works ok, did what I wanted it to do but I wanted it to tuck in a bit more, it can't really get very tucked in close and still be used as a mirror, but it is nice that on the trail you can loosen it up and tuck it in without removing it because you don't use it on the trail- but on the street it sticks out there just about as much as the stock mirror.
Easy install and uninstall. No rattle and no drifting. They do whistle a little at highway speeds. Be aware that these are flat mirrors and they will have a reduced field of view compared to OEM style mirrors.
Easy to install, does not fold in from the wind like I have read on reviews of other mirrors. It uses a "spline" pattern when you tighten down the thumbscrew to keep it from folding in. The head swivel adjustment is very tight (almost too tight) to keep adjustment from moving. There is some minimal road vibration but I still get a clear picture of what is behind me. The brackets can be left in place when you re-install your doors. A very good product.
They were very easy to install and remove the only downfall is on the highway the knob comes loose and the mirror moves and you can't see. I had the same problem with the first set of these but they had the longer arm so I figured with a shorter arm I wouldn't have the same problem but I did.
I'm not the biggest fan of these mirrors. I was hoping they would do well with doors on and off. They were difficult to get positioned and difficult to get them tightened where they wouldn't blow inward going down the road.
They serve their purpose. Great quality. But at higher speeds the wind does move them no matter how tight you have them. They look good and make you legal but in total honesty I have thrown them in my Jeep bun and I roll without mirrors when my doors are off.
