Reviews for Crown Automotive 55395401AE Tailgate Hinge for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK

I have a 2007 JK with 33" and 270k miles. The factory hinges lasted roughly 125k to 150k miles before the gate started rattling. Replaced with Mopar and all was good for roughly the same miles. It was time to do it again so I chose the Crown assuming they're the same. They aren't the same quality. The gate continued to rattle so I replaced the tire carrier with no change. Returned and went back to Mopar. Rattle is gone. These hinges were weak, squeaked, and rattled out of the box. Also, on older JKs the hinges are supposed to stop the gate from swinging too far. There is no check on the older ones. The Crown hinges allowed the gate to open too far and cracked my taillight. The stops are built in the hinges but are poorly designed. They just scrape instead of stopping the gate. Crown was kind enough to replace the taillight.
