Reviews for Quadratec J5 LED Light Bar with 2 Bolt Style Windshield Mounting Brackets for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
The light bar is great. Awesome look and super bright. The instillation video is horrible. Mounting the light bar is very simple and that’s all he really shows. There is nothing on the proper way to connect the wire harness.
I love the way this light bar is useful for night driving on road and still has the option for off-road and spot beams. Everything is super bright and the amber halos are the perfect touch!
What an awesome light. Installed in about 2 hours. The amber lights look amazing and when I kicked on the main bar it really was super bright and crisp. Great addition.
I really like the look with the clearance lights. I've received a lot of compliments on the light so far. My only complaints would be that the installation instructions for the wiring harness a a bit lacking. The online video helped a lot, but they really skipped over a few detail I would have liked to have seen like getting the wire through the fire wall, the best way to route he wiring harness under the cowling/hood. Stuff us first time Jeep owners need to know. My only other minor complaints would be that it seem like there was almost twice the amount of wiring that I need to connect it to the batter, so I ended coiling it and storing next the battery. Also, I bought an A pillar switch panel for the lights and the wiring harness that connects from the interior 12v/cigarette light isn't long enough to reach the driver's side A pillar. I had to extend/splice it on my own.
Just installed this on my 16 jk. Im gonna give this 5 stars even though i had some tweaking to do on one of the brackets. The passenger side one came with the mounting ear bent outwards and twisted as well. This made t to where the mounting bolts for the light bar wouldst even physically work because they were essentially too short due to the bent bracket. Anyway, besides that hiccup everything else was awesome. The brackets are HD with a nice finish, wiring is complete and enough length to do the job, and of course the bar itself is sweet! Love the amber markers which is the reason i got this bar over any others. Overall im very happy and would not hesitate to buy again. Also i really didn't notice any extra noise or anything which i was relieved with. Def recommended!
I gave it 5 Stars but there is room for improvement. Here is the problem. If you use the wiring kit, very easy install and works great but, the connection for the light bar ends up in a place not so easy to get to and the running lights are for all intents and purpose, HARD WIRED. So the dilemma is if you want to remove the light bar temporarily, it now becomes an all day task. If you shorten the light cable so you only have 4 or 5 inches coming from the bar, the wiring harness in the kit has plenty of cable to reach the light bar. Next, just install a quick disconnect for the running light. Foot note, this light bar is built a lot better than the earlier version. Good Job :)
Will i need to buy any other accessories in order to install the led bar?
Installed this light bar yesterday on my 2017 JKU Recon. Installation was easy following the instructions. I ordered the two bolt mounting brackets and they installed without any issues. The brackets are strong and well made. This light bar is bright! The yellow running lights are cool! If you are thinking about purchasing a light bar then pull the trigger on this one, you won’t be disappointed. I have the hardtop and I don’t notice any significant noise increase as I have the mud tires and they are noisy.
I'm loving this setup. I have dual windshield lights mounted on my 2014 JKU already and the two bolt set-up was perfect for me. All of the parts came very quickly making for a fun weekend setup. Seeing those marker lights at night puts a smile on my face everytime. I would HIGHLY recommend these lights. Quadratec did a great job with designing this product and everything has a great quality feeling to it.
The installation of the brackets and the light bar was a snap. I wish quadratec would have offered up or included the yellow tool in the video. The wiring was another issue all together. "fish the trigger wire through the firewall" was downright disrespectful without telling the customer where. CS sent pics and then it went relatively well. Also there is NO place to mount the light switch bracket supplied. I used the aux 12v port cover. AND the wind noise. I wish I had read all of the reviews. The noise is not bad up to about 50 mph. I have a soft top and the rear window zippers need to be down fully less the top flaps uncontrollably. The noise from about 45 on up makes polite conversation nearly impossible. I have the lightbar sitting as vertical as I could make it and the light pattern seems a little low as it strongly illuminates the hood. I will fuss with the angle to see if that helps the pattern, the noise and the top flapping. CS was great, the instructions were a little nebulous, the installation time was greatly helped by watching the videos and the cool factor is just off the chart.
