Reviews for Bestop Trektop NX Glide Twill Soft Top for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 Door
Well built. I can't believe how quiet it is. I think its more quiet than my hard top, go figure.
Easy enough to install if its a very hot a day and you have some help.
Not Bestops fault but without removing the rear window good luck getting a ice chest in trough the back.
I figured we would replace the soft top for the hard top in the winter but the the hard top might not ever go back on this 2007 2dr Rubicon.
Great soft top! Only draw back I have is not being able to store the side panels and rear window in the Jeep once removed. The twill is great material!
Very nice top. This kit is high quality and looks great. Fits great as well. It was not a difficult install, but did take me about 4-5 hours since I was working alone.. seals up nice and super quite. Stores easily in the down position. The twill fabric is great. Quadratec shipped super fast and are great to deal with.
The installation on this was not bad. Including removal of my oem top it took about 3 hours. I love it and have had tons of compliments. Love the twill much better than my oem as well. The only part I'm not a fan of is the arch that goes across when in sunrider mode is now weird but can be removed easily and isn't even totally necessarily required but useful in snow/rain with top up to prevent pooling/sagging. My oem top zippers on the windows were shot and a huge headache. The Glide windows I absolutely love.
Love this top however I Need replacement part 539.20 for this top How do I get two of them so my top will work? thanks
Slide in windows and easy installation
The top is great quality. The only complaint is the self tapping screws need to be a better quality. The heads strip out easily during installation.
Installation was easy but takes a while. Finished product looks great. A little disappointed with a hinge that you assemble in the kit. When you drop the top towards the rear, it seems to rip the padding on the roll bars. Just have to be cautious and pull the hinge away from the roll bars when dropping the top.
Beautiful top. Functionally and aesthetically everything I could want. I don't think you're going to find a better soft top on the market. The zipper free system is fantastic. Insanely quick to take off and put back on once you've done it once or twice
Initial assembly was definitely frustrating and more time consuming than I would have thought based on the number of parts, but I most likely only have myself to blame for that.
I put the top on an 80 degree day and still had to use a hair dryer/the cars heater to expand the rear window for the first time. So go in with the assumption that you're going to need to do that.
Also, this is obviously my opinion based on personal experience, but there is one major negative about this product:
The way the braces mount on the rear most posts could be designed much better.
They are secured by the compression of a rubber hosing/tube sandwiched between a nut and bolt in a hole on the posts.
Installing this was a pain. It was hard to get in without any sort of lubricant and then if you used one you had the issue of it popping right out when any sort of pressure was applied.
Additionally, even when I had it installed dry, the force of the top would eventually pop it out.
Ultimately, I had enough frustration with it coming out any time I would adjust the top that I ended up jerry rigging my own way to fasten the rear brackets. I settled on using an anchor bolt from the hardware store which seemed to work way better than the rubber tube. I also zip tied the brackets to the posts for my own sanity.
It's hard to blame Bestop for this because they are simply working with the design of the jeep itself, but I do think there is some room for improvement that would make for a more robust design, especially considering how much this top cost.
This all being said, I love the top, I just think there is always room for improvement.
Excellent top but needs some aftermarket magic for window storage. First the good. This is an amazing looking top. It did take me the full 4 hours to install even though the instructions were well written and the whole thing looked pretty simple. Great construction, fit and finish. MUCH easier to slide the windows in than to wrestle with the old zippers. Most difficult part of the initial install was getting the back window in. This top is TIGHT when new (even after letting it warm in the sun for a while). The only issue I have now is what to do with the windows when the top is down. There are currently NO storage options for them. The construction includes a C-channel along one side with a L-channel down the perpendicular side which means you can't roll them into the ubiquitous storage options for zipper-style windows. And the windows are big so it's going to be difficult to lay them flat (especially if you've left your back seat in). Not sure how Bestop is going to address this in the future. If you're like me and need to take you windows along with you, you'll need to think about how you're going to store and protect them.
