Reviews for Teraflex 1254000 Front Lower and Rear Upper Control Arms for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Recommended to install with the lift
Look beefy, plus i have a teraflex lift, so this would compliment it
Fantastic! Installed Teraflex 2.5 inch lift kit and installed these and didn't need an alignment
My 2016 JKU steering was not the same after the 2.5” Teraflex lift and 35” tires. I loved the look, but the jeep was wandering all over the lane and steering not returning to center well. I added a Falcon 2.2 steering stabilizer and that helped a bit. But this 4 control arm kit corrected all the problems I was having, in fact I’d say the steering is now better than new. I can let go of the wheel and it drives straight! No more constant corrections.
I did not really realize how much angle and stress had been on the front u-joints. This kit also totally corrects that issue, and I’m sure I’ll have fewer problems later with this setup as a result. You could see the driveshaft angles correct to almost straight again during the process.
Also as part of this upgrade to my JKU, I also replaced the factory track bar with the Teraflex Monster Track Bar, which I did first and then moved to the 4 Control Arms later that day.
For the rear upper control arm install, having 2 sturdy tow straps ready to pull the axel back towards the rear bumper helps immensely to get the bolts lined up. Had to pull mine almost an inch and could not have done it without this suggestion from some online sources. For the front lowers, I supported the axel on two jack stands and then used a jack to gently put some lift on the back area of the front differential just before it connects to the driveshaft. As you raise that area, the entire front axel pivots and the bolts on the control arms will slowly align...just do a little at a time to get bolts lined up and be sure and also support your jeep’s frame with some extra jack stands while doing this. This pivot of the front axel is what restrores proper steering geometry and stops the wandering issue. When done, with all bolts just barely snug, lower the jeep and then torque all bolts to specs provided (so as not to bind/twist bushing as they move into final position with full weight on them when jeep is on ground). Be sure you have one or two 21MM metric wrenches and a socket in that size before you start, they are used often during this work.
I drove the jeep right after and the difference was day and night. I am still going to take the jeep in for a new alignment now just to be sure all the angles are correct. But if your jeep JK is wandering around in the lane after a 2.5"-3.0” lift, this is the kit for you!
Excellent, brings wheels/axles back closer to center of wheelwell, after 2.5" lift. Much heavier than stock. Definite suggestion when lifting. Remember, these are fixed length for teraflex lift.
Fairly easy install since the harder to reach bolts are captured. I did have a hard time getting some of the bolts torqued properly, but it would probably be much easier if you have access to a lift. definitely helped correct the geometry with my 3.5" lift. The Jeep feels much more stable and doesnt want to wander around as much on the highway. Also looks nice as you can see the Teraflex logos on the arms when looking at the side profile of the Jeep.
Really great quality control arms. They do exactly what they are designed for and really do help drivability. The simplicity and lack of required maintenance is a plus for me as well.
