Reviews for Quadratec J5 LED Light Bar with Amber Clearance Cab Lights for 97-25 Jeep Wrangler TJ, JK, JL & Gladiator JT
Light bar looks great and was fairly easy to install. There needs to be a 40mm long flange screws included to replace the 2 lower front center bolts. The OEM flange screws are to short to engage the threads once the mounting brackets are on in place. if not for that i would give it a 5.
Good product. Impressed with the light output and quality of the product. Had to lengthen the pos/neg wires on the harness if you don’t want to use the cigarette outlet tho
Light bar looks great itself as well as mount. Installation was ok, video certainly helped. Only downfall is the bolts on wrangler aren’t quite long enough to grab threads. I had to leave 2 bolts out, 1 on each side, no way I was going to be able to get them to catch onto the thread. Haven’t experienced any noise, very durable, once again, looks great!
BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!!
This light bar would be a perfect 5/5 if Quadratec would offer noise isolators with the J5 and other mounting options. My Wrangler has a Gobi full roof rack, and the side mounting points were not ideal. Also, please BE AWARE, this, like all led light bars do whistle pretty loud. I have a hard top and the whistle was extreme starting at 40mph. I highly recommend doing research and being prepared for this. I want zero noise from the bar so I purchased an AeroLidz light bar silencer for mine. Also, PLEASE NOTE the length of wire harness from the cigarette lighter to switch is very short, make sure your switch mounting location is close enough to your cigarette lighter to plug into..The bar is extremely bright for a single row, and the clearance lights are the coolest.. Love the glow off the hood!!!! FAVORITE MOD ON THE RUBICON!!! A+ customer service too!!
Quadratec service rates a full 5+. We initially received the wrong brackets and after a call, the correct ones were on the way promptly along with the shipper to return the wrong brackets.
The lights are amazing and we receive many compliments on them. I shamelessly ride with the parking lights turned on just so the marker lights are illuminated.
There are two issues, one major and one minor. The buffeting change and noise level with a soft top is very disturbing at highway speeds and it causes very serious flapping of the top (noise) and flexing of the roof bows and stressing the attachment tapes to the point It is so distracting that we are going to reinstall the hard roof until my aerodynamicist associate and I can come up with a fix. Subjectively, on one tank of fuel there appears to be a noticeable decrease in fuel efficiency caused by the drag increase. We can work on that too. Hopefully we can decrease the drag to where it is better with the light than without. We have done that before.
Tilting down the lights to a practical lighting pattern may help a very small but unsatisfying amount. We did that in daytime and the lights are so bright we had no difficulty in seeing the illumination pattern to make our adjustment.
The minor issue is the wire gauge on the pax side for the amber halo lights is thin and winter driving in snow and ice is a potential concern for damage of the exposed wire. Shrink tubing (applied at the factory) or other means perhaps in the range of six inches from the light fixture to where the wire is covered by the bracket would solve that concern.
Good looking light bar and easy to install. You will need to search out various online videos of exactly how to get the wire thru the firewall and how to disassemble the dash. Biggest problem I have right now is the horrible buffeting of the soft top. I'm open to solutions as I was surprised how loud it is, especially given the one review about the quietness.
I love the new light bar, looks great with the amber lights at night .
My only disappointment was with the removal of the front dash ...it's hard not to damage the dash ....be careful and use non marring tools....
Absolutely love the look of this thing. Simple install but I had a minor issue with bolt length and had to get some new ones that were 5mm longer to accommodate the rubber padding.
Not all JLs have daytime running lights. So the DRL adapter is not a good option. I tried! How else do we find power for the ambient lighting? Your video has a micro fuse tap into fuse box but the fuse keeps breaking! 2019 JL unlimited sport.
Looks great on my 2020 Gladiator but the marker light don't work. Keeps knocking out jeep marker light. Must have a short in light unit.
