Reviews for KC HiLiTES Gravity LED 7" Headlights for 97-18 Jeep Wrangler
The good: these are a dramatic improvement in light output over stock. With my old headlights, when stopped at a red light (at night, obviously), the red glow from the traffic light would overpower the headlights on the asphalt. Not with the KC's. I can actually see the beam! Whoa! Welcome to the 21st century! The high beam is fantastic as well; it very clearly lights the sides of the road and shines far enough into the distance for me to think that most Wranglers wouldn't be fast enough to overdrive the headlights. Did I mention they look awesome? Well, they look AWESOME!! I strongly prefer the look of these LED headlights over every other. They look like a very modern version of a classic headlight without looking weird. They are constantly getting compliments.
The not-so-good: install was Barney and friends easy, except one thing: I'm stupid OCD and no matter how much I mess with them, I cannot seem to get both headlights perfectly level. I do mean PERFECTLY level. It drives me nuts on the low beam, one headlight seems to be just a degree or two off from zero. Does it affect anything? Not at all. Does anyone else notice? Not even a little bit. Even if I point out out. Only my stupid OCD. Second: the low beams. They're frikkin stubby AF. They shine great left and right but not nearly as good forward. The light starts to touch the ground farther away from the bumper than I would prefer leaving a good 20'-30' of in front of the Jeep unlit. The hot spot where most of the light is looks like it might be 40'-50' deep before it cuts off almost completely. I think this was done intentionally by KC to not blind oncoming drivers but it leaves THIS driver pretty annoyed his $600 lights don't shine very far. Third: KC put their logo in the center of the light. Normally I wouldn't care but going back to part one of the not-so-good, I'm stupid OCD. It bugs me I can't seem to get both zeroed out! Four: I feel like I paid for more than what I got. It's obvious time and thought were put into their engineering but I feel like they could be $150-$200 less and KC would still make a comfortable profit.
Overall, I do recommend them. The fit and finish is top notch, they are a delightful improvement over stock, and, let's face it, most of us have auxillary lighting that will fill any voids left by these anyway. If you're reading this, just but them; I doubt my OCD will overflow onto you... Probably... Hopefully.
If anything changes, I'll update this review.
they look good, and the high beam is very nice, but the low beam isnt what i expected
I like these light so far we will see how's the winter beats them up. But really bright and easy install
I had the previous model 4232, they went out and KC gave me these under warranty replacement. These lights have a poor light pattern covers well left to right but nothing directly in front of the bumper. Also no light up high if you were in a valley driving out, no light in front up high. These have an integrated anti-flicker but in less then 60 days I have already had to replace 2 lights which have burnt out. KC honors their warranty but it's still a hassle to replace and ship back the defective set. I should have just left the stock lights and run a set of LED cubes.
