Reviews for Crown Automotive 55076310AB Hardtop Liftgate Support Strut for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ & Unlimited
Old ones lost their hydraulic power…I’d hit bumps and my back glass would bounce. When I’d open the tailgate and lift the glass, it would always fall down.
Bought these. Quick deliver. These were simple to install! Only took a few minutes, and it made a world of a difference!
Part was in stock
This part has the exact same part number as the original struts. This part is made in USA. The original part had weakened and could barely hold up the glass. With only 1 of these replacements, my glass was fully held up. With both new installed, it's very strong. Fairly easy install. Use a flathead to remove (or lift) the tabs at each end of your strut. Then pull on the strut to remove the ends from the ball joints. Then pop new ones on. I did it myself while propping glass on my head for the first one.
Took about 5 minutes to install - very easy with a flat head screwdriver only
These work great, so nice to have a window that stays up. East to install
I have never used this product before, so I cannot say whether I like or dislike it.
No issues so far. Works great.

Perfect fit and function.
- Use a narrow headed flathead screwdriver to gently release tension on the metal spring clip; do not pull back on them so hard you pull it out. Once tension is released, the strut head will simply pull away from the small ball joint. Replace with new strut in same manner.
- I found doing the bottom then top worked best. It was a one man, 10min job once I figured the spring clip out.
