Reviews for Quadratec Deluxe Storage Cart for Half or Full Steel Doors
Looks sturdy and will protect doors
Ease of use
A little expensive for the quality, but it works great!
Just finished putting together. Pre-drilled screw holes are about 50% correct. The carriage bolts are a pain to install. A 9/16 wrench will help get a grip of the head. Overall I think its going to be a good product. Just wish they would allow the consumer make all the drilling and get rid of the carriage bolts. A regular bolt would've been sufficient.
Example of the cost of an idea vs. the cost of the product. The idea of this project is excellent, helped organize an entire corner of our garage, by storing the tube doors and bikini cover, while the stock doors and hard-top are installed. However, the pre-drilled holes for the verticle supports (top) were too big, so had to drill our own, the pre-drilled holes on the base didn't go through the fabric so had to cut them out. Lastly, there are no pre-drilled holes for the 4 caster wheels, so had to measure and cut them out. In short, Level 10 idea and Level 5 execution.
I have to complaints about the carts. First, I ordered two for front and rear doors, and the two have different shades of carpet. I would have preferred that they match. The second is more significant. The JT (and I assume JL) rear doors don't balance well on the cart without tipping towards the the cutout corner. Some sort of adjustment to the design is needed. Perhaps a vertical pole on one end that the door can be velcroed to or an triangular piece that can be bolted on that the cutout corner can rest on. I've made due for now by wedging a 2x4 there, but it feels less than secure.
I can only give this cart 3 stars because my cart, as supplied, had no means for keeping the doors from simply falling over to the outside. There was not slot cut into the bottom runners. This required me to modify the cart by either crafting a new, wider base, or installing a low rail (strip of 1x1 lumber" along the bottom edges of the base. If you do not do this, the doors will be susceptible to falling over to the outside until you get both doors on the cart and the velcro strap around the top door window flanges, making this a two-person operation. Otherwise the cart is sturdy and rolls nicely.
Getting the doors seated on the cart is a bit awkward. Requires tethering the doors together so they don't fall off. Once they're on, its pretty stable. Good, inexpensive alternative to other carts that I've seen.
Works pretty well but could be wider. This is not really a high value purchase for the expense.
What I received was not the cart shown in the picture and the angle of the doors, when leaning on the center section, is much shallower than that shown. This makes the product noticeably less stable than expected. The included strap is not long enough to connect two full JK front doors when sitting on the cart after proper assembly and door placement. Additionally, there appears to be about $50 worth of material in this $169 product. I've had luck with other Quadratec orders and appreciate their great customer service. My doors are resting on this stand, I'm just not a huge fan.
